Midsummer, Maud and Madonna

Since it's late Midsummer Eve back home and every Swede is drunk, full of pickled herring and about to dance The Frog Dance, I don't think anyone care that I'm about a week late.


I actually didn't even know until a visitig friend told me that one of our most beloved and hated politicians at home has resigned from her post. Her name is Maud Olofsson and she's very similar to a woman named Madonna.

At first sight they might seem a bit different but at a closer look...

The two most frequently featured women in Swedish Media have more in common than it might look like. They could actually be best friends.

They are the same age. Our Deputy Prime Minister Maud Olofsson may have a more maternal image than First Pop Icon Madonna, but they are both the mother of three.

Keeping a healthy lifestyle is a priority for both, though one of them leans more towards yoga while the other often is seen on her bicycle. They both like fashion and to be well dressed, even if they go for different designers but one dresses less.

The careers took off about the same time, and both have reached as high as it gets within their guilds. Our girls are always surrounded by many men and can share stories, since both Berlusconi and Beatty been bossing around quite a bit.

I bet none one would ever notice if M&M swopped lives for a while.


But both the Swedish Government as well as the Sticky&Sweet Tour would be much more interesting.
